Sia Kate Isobelle Furler est une chanteuse de Pop/Chillout. Elle est née à Adélaïde en Australie mais n'atteint le succès commercial qu'une fois au Royaume-Uni. Dotée d'une voix chaude et enrouée, donnant à son expression artistique une touche jazzy qui n'est pas sans évoquer Norah Jones ou Tori Amos, elle est l'une des chanteuses (avec notamment Tina Dicko et Sophie Barker) de plusieurs chansons du groupe Zero 7, parmi lesquelles Destiny, Distractions, Somersault ou encore Speed Dial No. 2, et est à ce titre la seule femme à chanter sur l'album "The garden" sorti en 2006. Bénéficiant d'un succès d'estime en tant que chanteuse dans un groupe en Australie, elle part à Londres où elle postule à un casting pour Zero 7, et est retenue. Ses interprétations contribuent à la renommée du groupe, et elle enchaîne les concerts sur les tournées de "Simple Things" et "When It falls". Epanouie dans son activité musicale, elle tombe amoureuse d'un anglais qu'elle doit rejoindre à la fin de la tournée de When it falls afin d'emménager avec lui à Londres. Malheureusement, quelques jours avant son arrivée, celui-ci périt dans un accident de la circulation. Sia sombre alors dans la dépression et se jette à corps perdu dans son travail musical, cherchant à améliorer sans cesse sa technique vocale, au cours d'une période pendant laquelle elle se décrira a posteriori comme "anesthésiée émotionnellement". C'est le temps de son side project "Healing is Difficult" dans lequel, en effet, la maîtrise vocale cherche à compenser une transmission émotionnelle vacante par rapport à ses prestations antérieures.
