Sara Beth Bareilles, née le 7 décembre 1979 à Eureka en Californie (États-Unis), est une auteur-interprête et pianiste américaine. Elle s'est fait connaître en 2008 grâce à son single Love Song , qui l'a portée jusqu'à la première place du classement américain "Billboard Pop 100". Dès son adolescence, elle prit goût à la musique en participant notamment à la chorale de son collège ("Limited Edition") ainsi qu'à diverses comédies musicales de sa communauté dont certaines productions de son école notamment en tant qu'interprète d'Audrey dans la pièce «Little Shop of Horrors». Elle a obtenu son bac en juin 1998. Sara quitta son village californien à l'âge de 18 ans pour aller étudier la communication à UCLA (Université de Californie à Los Angeles) où elle passa le plus clair de son temps à écrire des chansons et fût membre d'un groupe a cappella ayant pour nom «Awaken A Capella». Une des pièces du groupe, Gravity, figura sur une compilation des Meilleures groupes Collégiaux A Capella de 2004. Elle chanta également au cours du concert annuel du UCLA Spring Sing, qu'elle remporta d'ailleurs à deux reprises. Elle fît également une courte apparition sur MTV TRL aux côtés de Maroon 5 alors qu'elle n'en était encore qu'à ses débuts dans le domaine musical. Après avoir obtenu son diplôme universitaire en 2002, elle commença à se produire dans des clubs et des bars comme l'Hotel Café ou encore le Genghis Cohen situés à Los Angeles durant trois ans pour peaufiner sa technique de la scène. Avant de sortir son premier album studio qu'elle produisit elle-même intitulé Careful Confessions en janvier 2004, elle enregistra deux démos ayant pour titres "The First One" et "The Summer Sessions", enregistrées respectivement...
