Description de l'artiste Peter Bjorn And John
Peter Bjorn & John se forme à Stockholm en 1999 autour du chanteur et guitariste Peter Morén, du chanteur, claviériste et bassiste Björn Yttling, et du batteur John Eriksson. Les deux premiers se connaissent depuis le lycée et ont déjà joué ensemble dans diverses formations. Ils recrutent ensuite Erriksson pour soutenir la rythmique. Après avoir sorti le mini-album Forbidden Chords en 2000, Peter Bjorn & John sort son premier album – sans titre - en 2002, sur le label Beat That !. La critique et le public découvrent alors un trio fortement inspiré par le rock alternatif américain et la pop indépendante anglaise. Le succès critique est au rendez-vous… En concert, le groupe défend bien son opus, ainsi que deux autres mini-albums qui sortent dans la foulée (People They Know et 100m of Hurdles), ce qui leur permettra d’enregistrer leur second album, Falling Out, qui sort en octobre 2005. A cette période, la scène rock suédoise est en totale ébullition, avec des groupes comme The Concretes ou Shout Out Louds. Peter Bjorn & John en devient très vite le porte drapeau. Writer's Block, le troisième album du trio scandinave, sort en juin 2006 sous l’égide du label Wichita Records. Porté par le single (qui devient un hit) « Young Folks » (chanté avec Viktoria Bergsman des Concretes), le disque est encensé par la critique, et le succès commercial est assez conséquent. Les trois membres du groupe sont portés aux nues par la presse musicale, et par le petit monde de la musique. Ceci permettra à Björn Yttling de s’atteler à des travaux de production (notamment pour ses compatriotes de Shout Out Louds, mais aussi pour la chanteuse Lykke Li et son album à succès, Youth Novels), tandis que Peter Morén s’impliquera dans un album solo, ...
