PAJARO CAMPANA is a beautiful composition of maestro FELIX PEREZ CARDOSO here interpreted by LOS MACHUCAMBOS group. We don't know who is playing the harp, but, without a doubt he or she is a virtuoso. Around August 1959 LOS MACHUCAMBOS was a group formed by Julia Cortes whom we believe was born in Costa Rica, Rafael Gayoso a Spaniard, and the Peruvian Milton Zapata. Later on Zapata was replaced by the Italian Romano Zanotti. The Bolivian Indian call Machucambo the armadillo which is common in that region. The carcass of this animal is used to manufacture the famous 10 string instrument called the "Charango." This instrument is used by the group. The trio became well known when their interpretation of LA BAMBA became a big hit worldwide. La bamba won the Grand Prix of the l'Académie Française du disque. But, the real breakthrough came when they released PEPITO which was number one in the charts worldwide. Composer as Charles Aznavour and Leo Ferre became well known thanks to the Machucambos. We are honoring this group via the wonderful medium of YOUTUBE.
