Kaiser Chiefs est un groupe indépendant de britpop britannique originaire de Leeds formé en 1997 sous le nom de Parva, puis renommé en Kaiser Chiefs en 2003. Il est vainqueur de 3 Brit Awards en 2006 (meilleur groupe, meilleur groupe rock et meilleur concert) et auteur de deux albums, Employment, sorti en 2005, qui a été salué par la critique britannique et a connu un grand succès public grâce notamment aux 2 tubes Everyday I love you less and less et I predict a riot, et "yours truly, angry mob" sortie en 2007 qui lui aussi a remporté un étonnant succés grâce a "Ruby" Le nom du groupe vient du nom du club sud-africain Kaizer Chiefs Football Club, dans lequel à joué Lucas Radebe, ancien capitaine de l'équipe de Leeds, dont les membres du groupe sont supporters. Quand Kaiser Chiefs s’est formé dans la ville de Leeds, aux alentours de l’été 2003, le but du groupe n’était pas de conquérir les stades ni de changer le monde. Dans les recoins sombres des clubs et des salles de concerts situés un peu partout dans la ville, Ricky Wilson (chant), Andrew ‘Whitey’ White (guitare), Simon Rix (basse), Nick ‘Peanut’ Baines (claviers) et Nick Hodgson (batterie et chant) avaient décidé de former un groupe qui s’attellerait à la redoutable tâche d’être capable de décrocher un passage en début de journée au Festival de Leeds de l’année suivante. Dix-huit mois plus tard, les garçons se sont faufilés sans invitations dans les classements britanniques des singles, ont terrassé d’immenses foules jusqu’à Moscou et ont effectué de triomphantes premières parties de Franz Ferdinand. L’histoire des Kaisers commence en fait quelque temps avant qu’ils aient décidé de se choisir comme nom celui d’une équipe de football Sud ...
