The Eagles est un groupe californien issu de la scène sud californienne de la fin des années '60, en compagnie de Jackson Browne, Warren Zevon et aux influences country et Bluegrass, pionnier du Country rock, formé en 1971. Sommaire Le groupe Eagles a été formé a Los Angeles en 1971 par Glenn Frey. À ses débuts, le groupe est constitué de quatre membres ; à savoir Randy Meisner (chant/basse), Bernie Leadon (chant/guitare/banjo), Don Henley (chant/batterie) et bien sûr son formateur Glenn Frey (guitare, piano et chant). Le premier album du groupe sort en 1972 sous le nom de Eagles. Ce premier album va rencontrer un très grand succès, notamment grâce au titre Take it easy. Leur second album, Desperado, sort l'année suivante. En 1974, les Eagles enrôlent un nouveau guitariste, Don Felder. Le groupe va alors enregistrer un troisième album, On the Border, qui aura un tel succès à lui seul qu'il va faire connaître le groupe de part et d'autre de l'Atlantique[réf. nécessaire]. L'année suivante (1975) paraît leur quatrième album, One of These Nights, avec comme titre phare Lyin'Eyes. Peu de temps après la sortie de l'album, Bernie Leadon décide de quitter le groupe. Il est dès lors remplacé par Joe Walsh, le guitariste de James Gang. En 1976 sort le plus connu de tous les albums du groupe, Hotel California. En 1979, le groupe enregistre un sixième album qu'il croit alors être son dernier, The Long Run. Cet album sera suivi d'un double live, sorti alors que le groupe est officiellement séparé. En 1994, soit quatorze ans après la séparation du groupe, celui-ci fait toujours parler de lui grâce à son titre phare Hotel California.
