Audioslave est un groupe de rock américain composé des anciens musiciens de Rage Against the Machine, et de l'ancien chanteur de Soundgarden (Chris Cornell). Le premier single d'Audioslave, Cochise, est sorti en novembre 2002, suivi d'un premier album simplement titré Audioslave. Le 6 mai 2005, Audioslave est le premier groupe de rock américain à être autorisé à jouer à La Havane, Cuba. Ce concert précède la sortie de leur second album, Out Of Exile. Le 2 juillet 2005, le groupe s'est notamment produit à Berlin dans le cadre du Live 8. Audioslave a sorti un nouvel album le 5 septembre 2006, intitulé Revelations. Chris Cornell, le chanteur, aborde une voix plus soul tout en restant dans l'esprit Audioslave. On y retrouve des chansons comme "Sound of a gun". Le 15 février 2007, Chris Cornell annonçait la fin de l'aventure. L'ancien chanteur de Soundgarden a en effet décidé de quitter Audioslave, invoquant des divergences musicales et personnelles. Son deuxième album solo doit par ailleurs sortir au printemps 2007, et sera suivi d'une tournée. Les autres membres d'Audioslave se produiront cet été au Coachella Valley Arts and Music Festival du 27 au 29 avril 2007 avec le chanteur Zack de la Rocha, pour une réunion exceptionelle de Rage Against the Machine. Rage Against The Machine donnera trois concerts US supplémentaires après celui en tête d'affiche du festival Coachella. Ils se produiront aux côtés du Wu-Tang Clan.
