That is, except for ONE 15 minute period every year. Yes, only once each year at Bamba Lake, a sacred fishing ritual is held, usually in May. During the ritual, called the Antogo Fishing Ritual, locals are allowed to fish all they want, but ONLY for 15 minutes. Before the Antogo fishing ritual, local men collect along the banks of the lake with fishing baskets in hand, some reciting incantations. Then a bell sounds, a gunshot rings out, and fishing is in season for the next 15 minutes. The men charge into the lake and quickly catch as many fish as they can to bring home to their starving families.
