Legendary singer KJ Yesudas and director Jayaraj received the National Award for best singer and best director from President Ramnath Kovind at the 65th National Film Awards ceremony in New Delhi. Sandeep Pampally, who won the Award for the best debutante director for the film Sinjar and Nikhil S Praveen, who won the best cinematographer award for Bhayanakam, received the award from Union I&B Minister Smriti Irani. Other than Yesudas, Jayaraj, Sandeep Pampally and Nikhil S Praveen, other awardees from the Malayalam film industry, including actors Fahadh Faasil and Parvathy did not participate in the ceremony.
