UAD Manley VoxBox (Review & Walkthrough) | Mix Better Now UAD just released some new plugins yesterday along with software version 8.7. One of the new plugins on offer is the wonderful Manley VoxBox. This is a fantastic emulation of the famous hardware channel strip from Manley. Its a tube and transformer based channel strip that includes a mic pre, optical compressor, deesser, and Pultec-style EQ section. The UAD Manley VoxBox is "Unison Enabled" meaning all of you Apollo users out there can take advantage of the Mic Pre in the Console software and track through it to tape (DAW). In this review, I put the VoxBox on a vocal and see how it sounds as well as test its versatility. According to UAD from their website, the VoxBox is "Built to deliver the ultimate in vocal production, the Manley VOXBOX channel strip combines the best of Manley’s ultra-boutique audio designs, including their high-fidelity tube mic preamp, vactrol optical compressor, Pultec-style passive EQ, and de-esser/limiter. With its robust build quality, genius feature set, and in-house wound transformers, the VOXBOX stands alone as the tube-driven toolbox for outstanding vocal tracks. Modeled by Universal Audio and endorsed by Manley Labs, the Manley VOXBOX Channel Strip plug-in is a stunningly faithful emulation of this unique, premium vocal channel strip. Featuring Unison™ technology for Apollo interfaces, you can track vocals in real time, harnessing the exact impedance and gain structure of the original high-end VOXBOX hardware."
