Toni Braxton est née le 7 octobre 1967, issue d’une famille croyante et pratiquante composée de 6 enfants, Toni a suivi une scolarité et des études supérieures qui la destinait à l’enseignement. Elle fit ses premières vocalises à l’église dans l’état du Maryland où elle naquit, grandit et trouva une vocation de chanteuse. Sa voix puissante, son timbre velouté et reconnaissable entre mille, un vibrato rare posé sur des mélodies finement arrangées et bien rythmées lui permettent de donner une coloration tout autre à l’univers du RnB. Le succès ne s'est pas fait attendre, l'ensemble de son œuvre comporte 6 albums dont le célèbre, album éponyme, "Toni Braxton" et des titres caracolant à la tête des charts billboard, ‘secrets’ le 3ème opus s’est lui aussi taillé une belle part des ventes sur le marché, les deux derniers albums respectivement "Heat" (2001), "Snowflakes" (2001), "More than a woman" (2002) ont reçu un accueil d'estime quant à "Libra" (2005) il empreinte la voie des autres albums. Ces différents titres lui auront permis de rafler de nombreux prix dont le célèbre Grammy Awards. Toni, battante et courageuse est réputée pour sa persévérance et sa motivation ainsi que son inaltérable originalité, qualités qui lui ont permis de gravir les échelons du succès entourée notamment de Babyface et A. Reid. Elle est une référence dans le paysage des divas modernes comme l' atteste son remarquable duo avec 'il divo' et l'on attend avec impatience l'opus 2008.
