The Temper Trap est un groupe de rock originaire de Melbourne, Australie. Le groupe a signé avec le label Infectious Records qui les diffuse dans le monde entier, excepté en Australie (où le groupe est sour le label de Michael Gudinski, Liberation Music) et aux Etats-Unis (où ils ne sont pas diffusés). The Temper Trap a attiré pour la première fois l'attention du monde musical après avoir joué au Musexpo de Londres en octobre 2008, puis au South by Southwest en mars 2009. La BBC a choisi The Temper Trap pour son top 15 des "sons de 2009".[1] Le groupe a enregistré son premier album, Conditions, avec l'expérimenté Jim Abbiss en mars 2009. Après 4 mois d'enregistrement, l'album est sorti en Australie le 19 juin 2009, il s'est directement classé 9ème des ventes d'après l'ARIA Charts. L'album est sorti le 10 août 2009 en Europe. Le groupe a déménage à Londres au moins de mai 2009 pour "passer un peu de temps sur le continent, et essayer de se construire une base de fan ici" d'après le guitariste Lorenzo.
