Stevie Nicks, de son nom complet Stephanie Lynn Nicks, est une chanteuse américaine, née le 26 mai 1948 à Phoenix (Arizona). Elle est notamment connue pour sa musique avec le groupe de rock Fleetwood Mac, son image spirituelle et sa voix distinctive. Stevie Nicks commence sa carrière quand elle a vingt ans, en 1968, après avoir quitté l'université de San Jose (Californie). Avec son ami Lindsay Buckingham, qu'elle a rencontré deux ans plus tôt, elle rejoint le groupe "Fritz" qui a ouvert beaucoup de concerts pour des musiciens comme Janis Joplin et Jimi Hendrix. Nicks et Buckingham deviennent amants et quittent le groupe en 1972, puis enregistrent leur premier album, Buckingham Nicks, sorti en 1973 sous le label Polydor Records. Cependant, cet album ne réussit pas et ils doutent de leur avenir dans la musique. C'est alors qu'intervient Mick Fleetwood qui essaye de trouver un studio pour enregistrer le prochain album de Fleetwood Mac, qui a ses propres problèmes. Peter Green est bien parti, ainsi que trois autres guitaristes qui n'étaient pas capables de créer la qualité de musique de Peter Green, et Fleetwood est aussi incertain de l'avenir que Nicks et Buckingham. À Los Angeles, il entre dans le studio "Sound City" où Buckingham Nicks a été enregistré, et comme un échantillon de ce que peut produire le studio, Ken Caillat lui montre la chanson Frozen Love écrite par Stevie et Lindsey. Fleetwood est très impressionné et il décide de parler avec Lindsey pour lui demander s'il veut intégrer le groupe comme guitariste. Lindsey accepte la proposition, mais à condition que Stevie puisse également en faire partie. Fleetwood Mac n'a pas vraiment besoin d'une chanteuse, et Fleetwood consulte les autres membres du groupe : Christine McVie (claviers) ...
