Skylar Laine Vocal Profile: Vocal Type: Light Lyric Soprano Vocal Range: F3 - G5 (2 octaves and 1 note) Vocal Strengths: Wide, expansive chest register. Has a voluminous confidence to the vocal character as a whole. The lower register has a slightly dark plush to it which can be employed with or without a vibrato. The chest register is the most prominent and vibrant in feature of the entire vocal. It has a spunky tinge to it which is reliant on volume rather than power which creates a sheering effect to its upper range. Notes beyond E5 begin to sound echo-ish with even greater conviction, unusual for an approach to one's end of range and without audible strain. Falsetto and head voices are used seldom but do express a strong mid-line tone which still remains warm and weighty. Overall, the vocal's tessitura is not like a full-fledged soprano's nor as low as one for a mezzo-soprano. Therefore, a soubrette classification is justified given the relatively short range and resonant chest notes and youthful quality. Vocal Weaknesses: Notes beyond F5 can be described as shouty. Greater force within the voice seems to amplify a nasal effect to the voice as a whole, creating an unpleasant tone. Vibrato can appear to be weak and inconsistent at times, especially low notes, which only shows the fact that vibrato is rarely used and stylistically unfitting for the vocal's country musicality.
