Originaire de Jacksonville en Floride, la formation Shinedown est composée du chanteur Brent Smith, du guitariste Jasin Todd, du bassiste Brad Stewart et du batteur Barry Kerch. Le quatuor cite en guise d’influences les noms de Lynyrd Skynyrd et Led Zeppelin de même que leurs pairs Staind et Tool. En résulte un mélange musical alliant guitare stridente à une voix bluesée et un accent de métal. Le groupe voit le jour en 2001 et il ne lui faut pas beaucoup de temps pour faire sa marque. Chacune des pièces que compose Shinedown se développe comme un petit drame et sur scène, le groupe se démarque par sa passion et sa puissance. Une fois le talent de tous apprivoisé, Shinedown décroche rapidement un contrat de disques qui vient de la part d’Atlantic Records en 2002. Le groupe se retrouve ainsi dans un studio de Los Angeles afin de coucher les pièces qui forment le cœur de « Leave a Whisper » qui paraît en 2003. Shinedown commence à faire du bruit avec le simple « 45 » qui tourne de plus en plus à la radio. Read more on Last.fm.
