http://www.freeskier.com After months of anticipation, Episode One of FREESKIER’s 2014 Road Trip Challenge (RTC) is here. This year’s rendition of the bout features Team K2 battling Team Nordica all across New England in a scavenger-hunt-style contest, in hopes of earning the coveted RTC crown. Staying true to the 2007 debut of FREESKIER’s Road Trip Challenge, the rules for the seven-day battle were simple: Complete multiple unique challenges, both on- and off-hill, and gain points for each task completed. Throughout the six-part series, you’ll see everything from new tattoos, to multiple barfing incidents, local news appearances, TV smashes, and of course some damn good skiing from a wild bunch of contestants: Nordica’s Ian Compton, Kieran McVeigh and Dale Talkington vs. K2’s Clayton Vila, Maks Gorham and Sean Jordan. Each team was also represented by one FREESKIER editor, in addition to a cinematographer and photographer, so no challenge would go undocumented. The RVs have been returned in one piece (sort of), the points have been tallied, and the participants from both Team K2 and Team Nordica have resumed life as it was prior to this great showdown. To find out which team reigned supreme, tune in each Friday leading up to the 2014 edition of the iF3 Film Festival in Montréal, Canada, where FREESKIER will premiere the final episode and reveal which team took top honors. In this first episode, Team K2 heads north to Sunday River, ME (with a pit-stop for surfing along the way) where all sorts of shenanigans unfold: lobster dinner with a stranger, cleaning said stranger’s bathroom, and more. Team Nordica, meantime, sets its sights on Burlington, VT. A ten+ hour road trip culminates with a downtown skiing adventure, from Church St. to City Hall. This—this is Road Trip Challenge.
