Rishton Ka Saudagar…Baazigar TV Review: This romantic saga fails to grab our interest The first episode of Rishton Ka Saudagar...Baazigar failed to generate any great sense of excitement or anticipation The show seemed to have a huge 90s hangover Vatsal Sheth makes his comeback on the TV scene with this show. His last serial, Ek Hasina Thi on Star Plus was appreciated by critics and audiences. Rishton Ka Saudagar…Baazigar on Life Ok made news before the launch for its no-dating clause that specified that the lead actors, Vatsal who plays Aarav Trivedi and Ishita Dutta who’s his love interest Arundhati can’t enter into a relationship during the course of the shoot. Ishita Dutta is Tanushree Dutta’s younger sister who also did Drishyam. Coming to the plot, real estate baron Aarav Trivedi, is a perfectionist who seems to have a serious OCD problem. He is intimidating as a boss but cool with his family members. Just before his marriage to Arundhati, he has built nothing less than a temple dedicated to her glory. We were seriously scratching our heads as we heard of Devi Arundhati. Family members are unhappy about their alliance for various reasons. Tanvi (Jyoti Gauba), Aarav’s Chachi holds the family responsible for the death of her husband and vows to bring misfortunate upon the couple. Arundhati’s grandfather, a priest at a Kali Temple also foresees danger to his little one’s life and is deeply worried. So, will the marriage actually take place and what is the shadow over Arundhati’s head? We saw a hint of Aarav-Arundhati’s chemistry, which is quite pleasant. The romantic sequences were filmed in 90s style with countless diyas, dupattas and dance steps. It reminded me of the good old days. There was also a hint of black magic with Tanvi releasing a bat at the venue where the gal’s haldi was taking place. Someone please leave the poor animals alone. Vatsal is competent but Ishita goes a little over the top. The supporting cast is just about adequate as are the production values. Though there’s a hint of mystery, the narration fails to build it up. Viewers can only guess about a few things – Is Aarav an abusive man? Why is Arundhati the target of such hatred? Why does Tanvi want revenge from the innocent girl? If the makers manage to sustain the mystery well, the show might stand a decent chance.
