Red Hot Chili Peppers (couramment abrégé en Red Hot ou RHCP) est un groupe de rock américain formé en 1983 à Los Angeles. Leur musique mêle principalement des éléments de rock et de funk. Les Red Hot Chili Peppers ont commencé à se faire connaître dans des clubs par des prestations très survoltées, avant d'enchaîner de nombreuses apparitions dans les festivals underground. Après la mort tragique du guitariste Hillel Slovak en 1988, ils ont commencé à écrire des textes plus profonds, accompagnés de mélodies plus complexes et recherchées. En près de trente ans de carrière, le groupe a enregistré dix albums studio dont les plus vendus sont Blood Sugar Sex Magik et Californication, sortis respectivement en 1991 et 1999. Ils ont vendu plus de 60 millions d'albums dans le monde. C'est l'un des groupes de rock ayant classé le plus de singles n°1 au U.S. Mainstream Rock chart, à savoir 11 singles, dont les tubes planétaires Give It Away, Under the Bridge, Scar Tissue, et Californication. Après une pause d'environ deux ans, durant laquelle chaque membre se consacrait à d'autres projets musicaux, les Red Hot Chili Peppers ont retrouvé le chemin des studios le 12 octobre 2009, comme l'avait indiqué le batteur Chad Smith au magazine Rolling Stone en août. L'album sera écrit sans John Frusciante, celui-ci ayant quitté le groupe en 2008. La nouvelle a officiellement été annoncée le 16 décembre 2009 par le guitariste sur son site et son blog Myspace, laissant une lettre à l'adresse de ses fans. Josh Klinghoffer a confirmé qu'il était le nouveau guitariste du groupe. En 2011, les Red Hot Chili Peppers ont confirmé la sortie de leur prochain album qui s'intitule I'm With You et qui est sorti le 29 août 2011.
