There's a lot to be said, but the sum of what this war would be is in the air. North Korean pilots barely get any flight time because of fuel shortages. They're flying ancient planes that can't even engage outside of visual range. South Korea has a modern aircraft arsenal - they're buying forty F-35s, and no matter what you think of that plane, it's way far and above anything North Korea has. Every North Korean fighter goes down, if South Korea loses anything it's marginal losses from ground-to-air sites that are then targeted by cruise missiles and long-range artillery. This all happens in the opening few hours - anything that isn't in the air after that point is getting nailed or captured by paratroopers. Then the North Korean armored columns, moving across roads, are bombed with modern anti-tank weaponry which would be devastating to modern armor, never mind stuff from the 70s(At best!). The North Korean infantry is running across a heavily mined field of defenses, into fully automated machine gun nests, without air support, against people who are bigger, stronger, and incalculably better trained then they are, with better, longer ranged equipment and armored support. They're slaughtered then they break. Conventionally it's a non-contest. The biggest problems are going to be artillery hitting Seoul's civilian population, but it's inaccurate and again with little training. Depending on how the war begins, SK could very well wipe out every line of communication and much of the ammo supply as well. The other problem is of course the nuclear weapons. I don't know that North Korea really has a delivery system that's practical and won't be shot down. Their best bet might be a lead-lined transport on a truck to the front lines to avoid detection from the air via methods to detect radiation. Still it'll probably just get bombed. I think no matter the other factors, South Korea, even without US support, penetrates the NK line to strategic depths inside the first day or two. North Korea is given undeniable proof that their leaders are not gods when their statues are slagged. All support and morale collapses. Total victory to South Korea.
