Mariah Carey (27 mars 1970 à Long Island, banlieue de New York) est une chanteuse pop américaine Biographie Mariah Carey est née d'un père d'origine afro-vénézuélienne, Alfred Roy Carey, et d'une mère d'origine Irlandaise, Patricia Hickey, professeur de chant et chanteuse d'opéra. Alison alla vivre avec son père et Mariah resta avec son frère et sa mère. Très vite, la mère de Mariah remarqua chez elle un grand potentiel pour la chanson. Elle fit fructifier ce don en lui donnant des cours de chant dès l'âge de 4 ans. Pour faire face aux difficultés de son enfance, comme le racisme que sa famille subit ainsi que la pauvreté, Mariah ne cesse de développer son talent artistique et se réfugie dans le monde qu'elle se construit par la musique. Elle écrit ses propres textes dès le lycée ; et après avoir obtenu l'équivalent du baccalauréat, elle s'installe à Manhattan où, pour gagner sa vie, elle fait de petits boulots. C'est durant ces années qu'elle fait une rencontre décisive avec un ami de son frère, Ben Margulies.
