It was raining so hard that the roads were covered in about an inch of rain. Blake was crossing an intersection, when another driver tried to run a red light. Unable to stop he crashed into Blakes car on the driver side. Killing him instantly. Thus, leaving Kirstien a widow and with no real job experience and only a great love for cooking. She needed find a place to stay and get on her own two feet again. She called on the only one person she knew would still - after all these years. Would still care. A long time childhood friend.
