Leona Louise Lewis (née le 3 avril 1985 à Islington, Londres, Royaume-Uni) est une chanteuse britannique connue comme étant la gagnante de la troisième saison de l'émission "The X Factor", version britannique de la Nouvelle Star. Elle est la première femme britannique à être au top des charts US avec "Bleeding Love" depuis "You Keep Me Hangin' On" de Kim Wilde en 1987. Leona Lewis, d'origine guyanaise de son père ainsi que galloise de sa mère, grandit au milieu de la collection de disques de son père. Jeune, Leona a toujours apprécié la musique, elle raconte : "J'adorais écouter Minnie Riperton et Anita Baker et les stars des années 80 comme Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Oleta Adams et Eva Cassidy. J'ai décidé de devenir chanteuse à l'âge de 6 ans". Elle écrit sa première chanson à l'âge de 12 ans et compte plus de 100 chansons à son actif jusqu'à ce jour. Parmi ses thèmes favoris figurent : l'adolescence, l'amitié, le passage délicat de la vie d'une jeune fille à celle d'une jeune femme et bien sûr l'amour. Elle remporte un peu plus tard plusieurs concours de talents en reprenant notamment du Mariah Carey. En 2006, après les études, Leona enchaîne les petits boulots pour pouvoir se payer un enregistrement en studio. Sa carrière ne décolle pas, elle décide alors d'abandonner. Son petit ami réussit à la convaincre d'auditionner pour la 3ème saison de "The X Factor", la Nouvelle Star anglaise, en y interprétant "Over the Rainbow". Elle fut retenue. Elle enchaînera des prestations mémorables d'un niveau professionnel, où elle impressionnera le jury, notamment lorsqu'elle interpréta "All By Myself "où elle montra toute l'étendue de sa puissance vocale.
