Another excerpt from the Zurich performance of "La clemenza di Tito". Tito's aria "Del più sublime soglio", with spoken recitatives before it. Tito announces that now, after his failure with Berenice, he chooses Servilia, Sesto's sister, to be his wife. Annio, who's in love with Servilia, is appalled but meekly accepts it and even says the emperor couldn't find himself a better wife. Tito then promises to grant Sesto great honors and gifts, Sesto asks the emperor to moderate his generosity (yes, that's what he's saying despite his smug expression %)). But Tito brushes his objections aside and says that generosity is the only benefit of being a person in power. Tito - Jonas Kaufmann Sesto - Vesselina Kasarova Annio - Liliana Nikiteanu
