Korn (habituellement typographié KoЯn pour coller au logo officiel) est considéré comme le groupe à l'origine du mouvement que l'on appelle néo metal, avec Deftones. Le groupe a été fondé en 1993 à Bakersfield, banlieue de Los Angeles, É.-U.. Groupe forgé à la scène, Korn fait plusieurs concerts avant d'être repéré par Ross Robinson qui sera leur premier producteur. Korn sort son premier album (KOЯN) éponyme de manière quelque peu confidentielle en 1994. Il connaît progressivement un engouement certain et Korn devient la figure de proue des nouveaux groupes de néo metal, aux côtés de Deftones, System of a Down, et Slipknot. Membres actuels * Jonathan Houseman « HIV » Davis:(Chant, cornemuse, batterie) * James « Munky » Shaffer (Guitare) * Reginald « Fieldy Snuts » Arvizu (basse) * Brian « Head » Welch (guitare) Anciens membres : * David Silveria (Batterie, percussions), (né le 21/09/1972) * KoЯn est en partie issu du groupe L.A.P.D. composé de Munky, Fieldy, David et Richard Morales au chant. Ils jouaient sur des petites scènes autour de Los Angeles, jusqu'en 1989, année à laquelle ils sortent leur premier single, Love And Peace, Dude sur le label TripleX Records. En 1991, ils sortent leur premier album, "Who's Laughin' Now ?". Le groupe se sépare ensuite de son chanteur, jugé trop « space » par les autres membres. Munky évoque d'ailleurs une soirée où Richard Morales refusa de chanter car son guitariste s'était coupé les cheveux et que cela avait cassé la « wave ». LAPD est donc sur le déclin. Les musiciens décident de prendre Brian « Head » Welch dans leurs rangs pour former Creep. Munky et lui se connaissaient depuis le collège mais LAPD avait jusqu'ici refusé de prendre un second ...
