I couldn’t resist the temptation to make this colourful and delicious sombrero hat piñata cake for the occasion! I wanted to replicate the colour and texture of a real piñata with layers of fondant; I even hid candy on the inside! Stationing the carved cake on a platter covered in gumpaste really helped stabilize my cake and set the shape for the hat. FYI there’s a surprise at the very end of this vid so be sure to watch it all the way through. Let’s just say I treated this cake like a REAL piñata… and may have had a meltdown afterward. You can find more info about this cake over at my blog - http://bit.ly/CincoDeMayoCakeRecipe What is that liquid I drizzle all over my cakes?? SIMPLE SYRUP!
