La Die Antwoord crew se compose de trois membres : Ninja (maître du « Zef rape-rave »), Yo-Landi Vi$$er (une « riche salope futuriste »), et DJ Hi-Tek (le « beat-monster »). Leur album "$O$" (2009) est écoutable sur leur site (qui annonce la couleur en déclarant : taking over the Interweb). Les énergumènes s’y décrivent comme « une adorable entité bâtarde d’Afrik du Zud, issue de l’amour de plusieurs cultures, noires, blanches, colorées et extraterrestres (...) ». Ces mecs sont ou totalement naïfs, ou complètement en phase avec les nouvelles techniques de promotion sur les réseaux sociaux. C’est pas des amateurs. Et la production du clip est, elle aussi, clairement professionnelle. Donc, il y a bien un arbre qui cache une forêt. Qui est Die Antwoord, “la réponse” en afrikaans ? Est-ce qu’il sont “réels ? Qu’est qu’ils essaient de dire ou de vendre ? Le rappeur lui même ne sait pas. - On s’appelle Die Antwoord - Ça veut dire quoi ? - Ça veut dire la réponse - La réponse à quoi ? - Putain mec, je sais pas A mesure qu’on creuse, on tombe sur des débuts de réponse. Le look rappeur white-trash sud-africain dégénéré tout juste sorti de taule ressemble à une costume, mais aucune certitude encore. Pas beaucoup d’élements en ligne, à part leur site, extrêmement bien foutu mais avec toujours cette impression qu’ils cachent quelque chose, qu’il y a des ficelles solides derrière la violence visuelle. Et puis il y a le clip de Enter The Ninja. Haute qualité, du rap à grosses basses et refrain explosif. La même folie dans le flow qui part à 200km/h dans une langue que Ninja, puisque c’est aussi le nom du rappeur, semble inventer à mesure qu’il parle.
