Description of the artist David Gilmour
David Jon Gilmour est né le 6 mars 1946. Il est le guitariste du groupe Pink Floyd, bien qu'il joue souvent également de la basse sur les albums. Il entre dans le groupe en 1968 pour 'epauler' Syd Barret dont le comportement devient de plus en plus ingérable. Trois mois plus tard, Syd Barrett est poussé vers la sortie et Gilmour le remplace. Pink Floyd continue de publier des albums régulièrement, ils connaissent un succès important et le groupe suit son chemin jusqu'aux années 80. Roger Waters le bassiste parolier et compositeur principal quitte le groupe en 1985 et après une bataille juridique (Waters voulant empêcher les autres de continuer) Gilmour prend les rennes du groupe. Suivront un album en 1987, relayé par une tournée de deux ans, et un album en 1994, également suivi par une importante tournée mondiale Gilmour a aussi publié un album solo en 1978, un autre en 1984 et un dernier en 2006. Si les deux premiers n'ont rencontré ni le public ni les faveurs de l'histoire du rock, le plus récent a connu un franc succès. En 2005 Pink Floyd s'est réuni pour un concert au live8 et depuis plus rien : si les autres membres du groupe ne cachent pas leur désir de rejouer ensemble, Gilmour semble ne rien entendre et affirme à chaque interview ne pas vouloir reformer son ancien groupe.
