Culture Club est un groupe de New Wave britannique formé en 1981 par Boy George (chanteur) et par Mickey Craig (bassiste). Ils seront rejoints par Jon Moss (batteur,synthetiseur) et par Roy Hay (guitariste). Ils sortent leur premier album Kissing to be clever en 1982 et connaissent un succès mondial grâce à la chanson Do you really want to hurt me, numéro un dans plusieurs pays. Le groupe devient ensuite l'icône de toute une nation grâce à leur deuxième album Colour by numbers et à Karma chameleon (numéro 1 un peu partout), qui parle de la relation longtemps cachée entre Boy George et Jon Moss. L'album se vendit à plus de 16 millions d'exemplaires. Après avoir classé plusieurs titres dans les charts mondiaux et britanniques, Culture Club sort son troisième album Waking up with the house on fire, l'album se vend bien mais il est faible (chansons baclées...) et le groupe commence à perdre de la vitesse. A cause de certaines histoires de drogues, Culture Club se séparent en 1986 juste après la sortie de From luxury to heartache. Le groupe a tenté de se reformer en 1989 mais l'énergie entre les membres n'y était pas. En 1998, ce fut le cas. En mai, le groupe a fait son premier spectacle en 13 ans dans le cadre de l'émission américaine "VH1 Storytellers". Quelques tournées mondiales ont ensuite eu lieu en 1998, 1999 et 2000. Un simple eut beaucoup de succès en Angleterre, I Just Wanna Be Loved, qui se hissa au 4e rang du palmares. Un album, Don't Mind If I Do, fut disponible dans certains pays d'Europe et d'Asie seulement. Read more on Last.fm.
