Chris Cornell (né Christopher John Boyle le 20 juillet 1964 à Seattle et mort le 17 mai 2017 à Détroit), est un guitariste et compositeur-interprète connu pour avoir été le chanteur de Soundgarden. Il a également fondé en 1990 le projet Temple of the Dog (formation avec des membres de ce qui deviendra Pearl Jam) le temps d'enregistrer un disque hommage à Andrew Wood, chanteur décédé de Mother Love Bone. À la séparation de Soundgarden en 1997, il fait carrière en solo (Euphoria Morning) avant de rejoindre Audioslave en 2001, groupe formé des musiciens de Rage Against the Machine (Tom Morello a la guitare, Brad Wilk à la batterie et Tim Commerford à la basse). Malgrès d'excellentes ventes, le groupe se sépare en février 2007. En 2006, il signe le titre You Know My Name, musique originale du film James Bond : Casino Royale ainsi que Disappearing Act, musique originale du film Bug. Le 5 juin 2007, Chris Cornell a sorti son deuxième album solo "Carry on" contenant notamment les deux bandes originales citées ci-dessus ainsi qu'une reprise de Billy Jean (Michael Jackson).
