Cambodia Nightlife 2016 - VLOG 105 Phnom Penh (bars, clubs, girls) A VLOG from September 2016 of an evening drinking in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. It is home to many inexpensive bars, restaurants, guesthouses and also has a few hostess bars thrown in for good measure. It is a good place to find $0.50 draught beers and many expat teachers congregate here in groups for the inexpensive offerings. The food is generally good here and many restaurants do take away service for the local expats. The hostess bars were quiet on street 172 when I visited so I never ventured in as I generally don't like being a solo customer in a bar. $1 moto taxi ride. I went everywhere via tuk tuk or moto taxi and never paid more than $1 for a trip. Phnom Penh is not a place to wander around alone late at night, even around the tourist areas. Sharky's live music / pool bar. I like Sharky's, it's one of the few bars in Phnom Penh with character. It's not for everyone and the quality of freelancers/music often dictates how busy it is. The freelancers were average on this night, but on my previous visit there were half a dozen young hotties playing pool (I didn't have my camera that night). So it's a lottery about the quality of girls available. The waitresses I'm sure are freelancers too, so if one takes your fancy then make your intentions clear early on :) It was open mic night, so anyone technically could get up on stage and play. They also allow stand up comedy improv so I can just imagine random drunk guys taking the mic and cracking gags. It's all laid back and nobody takes themselves too seriously (at least that's how it appeared). Sometimes I wish Bangkok or Pattaya had an equivalent of Sharky's. I'd probably go every week. Cheap beer, good pool tables, live music, freelancers, no smoking inside etc... But I think maybe the Thai expats like to keep themselves to much, especially in Bangkok. Beers were $1.50 at Sharky's and that is good in anyone's book. I liked the 3rd story of the toilet humour the best. Street 136 On this night I went to the corner bar first which has a great view of the crossroads below. Draught beers have gone up to $1.75 and lady drinks were $3.75.
