Trevor Tahiem Smith, junior alias Busta Rhymes est un rappeur et acteur américain né le 20 mai 1972 de parents Jamaïcains dans Brooklyn à New York. Surnommé Busta Rhymes (nom de scène que lui trouva Chuck D du groupe Public Enemy) ou encore "Bus-a-Bus", il fait d'abord parti du groupe Leaders of the New School avec qui il sort deux albums en 1991 et 1993, sortis sur le label Elektra Records, puis il se fait rapidement un nom dans la communauté du hip hop avec son premier album solo, The Coming, sortit en 1996, incluant le tube « Woo-Hah ! Got You All In Check ». L'album suivant, When Disaster Strikes... comprenant les singles « Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See » et « Dangerous », est moins réussi mais s'est tout de même bien vendu. En 1998, Busta Rhymes réalisa The Imperial avec le groupe Flipmode Squad, qui compte, outre Busta, Rah Digga, Rampage, Lord Have Mercy, Spliff Star et Baby Sham. Busta Rhymes sortit ensuite l'album Extinction Level Event: The Final World Front inspiré du film catastrophe Deep Impact. Les singles « Gimme Some More » et « What's It Gonna Be », avec Janet Jackson, en sont les principaux titres. Après avoir changé de maison de disques, il sortit un nouvel album intitulé Genesis. Le succès rencontré fut à la hauteur de son tube « Break Ya Neck » dont la rapidité du flow est remarquable. Genesis contient aussi « Shut Em Down » et « Pass The Courvoisier », produit par les producteurs de renommée mondiale Dr. Dre et The Neptunes. En 2002, Busta Rhymes sortit son sixième album It Ain't Safe No More. Le premier single extrait, « Make It Clap », rencontra un immense succès, surtout après un remix avec Sean Paul. Le second, « I Know What You Want » avec Mariah Carey, fut lui aussi très populaire. ...
