Billy Idol, de son vrai nom William Broad, né le 30 novembre 1955 à Middlesex en Grande-Bretagne, est un chanteur britannique. Il a fondé le groupe Generation X, alors considéré comme étant un groupe punk-rock. Pour les plus jeunes et ceux qui auraient du mal à resituer ce très influent Anglais, sachez que Billy Idol a écrit des tubes intemporels dans sa jeunesse. Parmi les plus connus citons en vrac Cradle Of Love, White Wedding, Rebel Yell, Flesh For Fantasy, Hot In The City, Mony Mony ou encore To Be A Lover. Parmi ces morceaux, certains ont fait la gloire des premières heures de MTV. C'est d'ailleurs à l'occasion de la fête des vingt ans de la chaîne, où Billy Idol va recevoir de nombreux hommages appuyés de rappeurs comme Snoop Dogg, que la machine repart et que William va remotiver Steve Stevens pour qu'il reprenne du service. Presque quatre ans plus tard, Devil's Playground débarque...
