Basil Valdez started his carteer as early as 1970 as solo, folk singer. He joined "Circus Band" on 1972. This added his points and increased his profile. But after several years, the band decided to separate and went to pursue solo career. Not long after his solo career, George Canseco composed more than 20 songs that brought Basil to its fame. His first solo album entitled "Ngayong At Kailanman" was released that brought him recognition and has his permanent stay in radio stations. He recognized Canseco and other composers for the success of his career. After some time on Circus Band, Basil met Ryan Cayabyab, a pianist of ther band and asked him to donate some songs which was gladly accepted by the Cayabyab. Thus, the fruitful collaboration still exists until this very day. In 1980's Basil was recognized as the "undisputed King of Movie Theme Songs". Among of his unforgettable hits were "Paano Ba Ang Mangarap, Muling Buksan Ang Puso and Paraisong Parisukat. This peak of success took placed when songs You and Lift Up Your Hands were being played blazingly on different radio stations and airwaves on 1985. Unfortunately, he has an operation on his kidney which immobilizes his career. For more than 15 years of singing, he felt the urge to do something different. The started painting and began teaching, which was seemingly impossible for a famous singer. He taught philosophy in Ateneo de Manila University since he took up AB Philosophy in Ateneo de Manila. He also held Religion class at Xavier School. In 1990, aside from singing, he did sidelines such as healing which some would say, an unbelievable gift. He put his right hand on the swollen part of the patient which was stricken by a whiplash. The patient was miraculously healed after suffering for almost six months. Being confused by his extraordinary gist, he consulted the Jesuits' friends and declared he has a gift of healing. People come to him for the span of 11 years and more than 3000 patients was cured of different illness.
