Armin van Buuren (de son nom complet Armin Jozef Jacobus Daniël van Buuren), est un célèbre DJ et producteur néerlandais. Né le 25 décembre 1976 à Leiden en Hollande, il a toujours été fasciné par la musique, suivant ainsi l'exemple de son père qui écoutait de nombreux genres musicaux. Parallèlement à son amour pour la musique, Armin a commencé à être intéressé par la technologie et les ordinateurs. Il a commencé à faire de la musique à l'âge de 14 ans en achetant son premier sampler et en empruntant le synthétiseur de son père. Pendant son adolescence il venait à l'école avec ses écouteurs collés aux oreilles, la plupart du temps en écoutant de la musique de Jean Michel Jarre et Ben Liebrand. Comme il avait un grand respect pour Ben Liebrand, il lui envoya un extrait de ses productions qui fut reçu avec enthousiasme. En retour, Ben a beaucoup appris à Armin sur la manière de produire et de mixer. La passion d'Armin pour le mix progressait. Il a commencé à travailler comme DJ dans une boîte locale appelée Nexus, a terminé son enseignement secondaire en 1995 et commencé à étudier le droit à l'université. En attendant, il a déménagé son équipement de sa chambre vers un 'vrai' studio. Les premiers morceaux qu'il produisit dans son nouveau studio furent entre autres Blue Fear, Touch Me, et Communication. De nombreux autres morceaux suivirent, tous avec un genre différent. Armin n'aime pas être limité à un style particulier en marquant sa musique. Une phrase qu'il utilise souvent est : don't be prisoner of your own style (ne soyez pas prisonnier de votre propre style).
