What we have here is a real "treat" if you like easy listening or lounge music. Andre Kostelanetz arranged this famous Cole Porter song in such a way, that - even after listening 5 or 10 times or more - one still may discover new elements in the orchestration. This sound is so 'rich' and exciting that it makes each listening experience a "feast for the ears" ! Cole Porter wrote this song in 1937 for a movie called "Rosalie" and would write many more famous scores and songs in later years. Amongst his most famous compositions are standards like "Night and Day", "I've got you under my skin" and "Begin the Beguine" - to name just a few. Nearly all of the great American jazz singers performed his songs and as such, kept his music alive with the general public. Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Sammy Davis, Judy Garland......the list is just endless. And of course, there also were many orchestral recordings of his great tunes and, in our opinion, the "Andre Kostelanetz plays Cole Porter" album from 1972 ranks amongst the very best. And now here's, for your listening pleasure, one of the superb tracks from that same album : " In the still of the night " Enjoy !
