Andre Kostelanetz and John Barry join forces for the second time here on the channel and what you'll be hearing is a magnificent version of the all time movie evergreen "Born Free". Written in 1966 by Barry for the movie with the same name, the song received an Academy Award for Best Original Song that same year. Originally performed in the movie by Matt Monro the song has been covered by an extended range of artists since it's release, and Andy Williams' version probably is the best known to music lovers worldwide. Many orchestras have put the song on their repertoire and here now is Andre Kostelanetz bringing us what could be called "an all-in arrangement". There's the romantic side of the theme, but Kostelanetz makes sure to also include some adventure while keeping in mind the "awesome African landscape" aspect of the music. Again, this is a 'full orchestration' piece that clearly deserves repeated listening (you may discover new elements in the music each time you listen to it). From the 1973 album "Moon River" here is Andre Kostelanetz and His Orchestra with a great interpretation of John Barry's "Born free" . Enjoy your 'African trip' ;-)
