Peri & Sons Farms is debuting its latest addition - a new Sweet Red onion. The hand-harvested onion offers a semi-globe shape with vibrant dark red skin. It recently tested milder than other late-year reds with good sugar levels that hold up well when cooked, grilled, or served raw in any seasonal salad or dish. A limited supply will be available from October through February 2013 in 2, 3, and 5 pound mesh packs and 40 pound bulk cartons. Teri Gibson, Director of Marketing & Customer Relations, tells, AndNowUKnow, "We are very excited with the taste-profile of our new Sweet Red onion. It has all the color, snap and pizazz that foodies look for in a red onion. We think that customers who add this new sweet red to their onion program are going to be pleased with the results." Columbine Vineyards is ramping up for the October harvest of the company's proprietary Holiday® Seedless grapes and Black Globe® variety. The Holiday® Seedless has a vibrant red cherry color and an extra large berry that presents an amazingly sweet flavor profile. Black Globes® have jet black color and offer a crunchy eating experience with high sugar and low acidity. There will be promotable volumes for both varieties beginning in October and running into mid-December for the Holiday® Seedless and late November for Black Globes®. Columbine is offering its Holiday® Seedless in new, vibrant, high graphic handle bags this season, with a QR code linking grape lovers to a page describing the Holiday® Seedless grapes.
