It's official- these onions are sweet! This month, Bako Sweet Onions were formally certified by National Onion Labs. Bakersfield based "Country Sweet Produce" provides both organic and conventional onions in the red, white, yellow and Granix sweet varieties and the company has recently introduced petite certified sweet onions to their customers as well. Endorsements from Vidalia, Georgia as Lauren Dees Mizelle, Consumer Products Advocate for National Onion Labs, stated: "When it comes to the consumer experience of sweetness, Country Sweet Produce believes that buyers shouldn't gamble. Their Bako Sweet® brand onions are followed from the field to the shelf and tested for the flavor qualities consumers taste." The full results of the lab can be viewed online at www.onionlabs.com. Grapery, a San Joaquin Valley vineyard, is putting a serious premium on unique flavor and quality. Grapery's owners, Jack Pandol and Jim Beagle, have been growing and harvesting table grapes since 1996, and their innovative research is contributing to the next generation of grape varieties. Grapery continues to grow classic flavors including the Crimson Seedless, Autumn Royal, and Red Globe. The company is also working with a South African based breeding program to turn out several new varieties called Sweet Surrender, Sweet Sunshine, and Sweet Celebration. CEO Jim Beagle stated, "Grapery is really focused on flavor and the passionate response we get from consumers has been overwhelming. It brings a lot of excitement to grapes!"
