Thought I'd grow some Banana Shallots from seed this year for a change after having disappointing results from bulbs the last couple of years suffering from botrytis. I sowed them in early March in tiny 40 module trays and planted out about 6 weeks later when they were just tiny little 3" seedlings. I wasn't expecting much but now I'm amazed at the sheer size and condition of them even with this years rubbish wet weather. So I'll be doing this again next year as they take up such a small amount of space in the allotment bed and seem to be problem free.
