Since Rebecca Newman shot to no1 in the UK classical albums chart without the help of a record label or TV talent show, Alfie Boe was one of the first stars to congratulate her. He was keen to sing with her but she had a very busy year with a 50 date UK tour with Russell Watson and live BBC Radio and TV appearances, so when he found out she was going to be in the audience at his Leeds open air concert he couldn't resist inviting her up for a duet in front of his 3,000 strong audience. He suggested she joined her on Come What May and, without a soundcheck or rehearsal Rebecca, the former busker, brought out the busker in Alfie and together they did a spontaneous performance that wowed the crowd and started a massive response on social media with Alfie fans uploading videos and photos saying how well they thought their voices blended and, of course, asking for more! Everyone here at Team Rebecca would like to wish Alfie an amazing run on Broadway in Les Miserable, which he jetted off to do just hours after the concert, and thank him for taking Rebecca to his heart, like so many music lovers in the UK and beyond have already done.
