"Civilization" was written by Bob Hilliard and Carl Sigman for the Broadway musical revue "Angel In The Wings." The show ran 308 performances from Dec-11-47 to Sep-04-48 and earned Tony awards for Paul & Grace Hartman as Best Actor and Best Actress in a Musical. Note that the label scan above does not credit Woody Herman "and his Orchestra," as this is one of several 1947 Columbia tracks featuring Woody billed simply as a vocal artist, minus the Woody Herman band.
