Iraqs blood-red lake There is, as yet, no official explanation for why this otherwise normally green lake appears in red. The mystery is unsolved but some suggest it may be sewage pollution, water-treatment processes, algae or dumping of waste-blood from slaughterhouses. ➢9. Steppe Geoglyphs The Steppe Geoglyphs are a collective of at least 260 ancient eathworks in Kazakhstan , most of which are smaller made from stones or dug out earth. They were first spotted on Google Earth in 2007. ➢8. Marree Man The ancient mysterious Marree Man was randomly spotted in 1998 in a very remote location in the middle of the Australian desert and is thought to be a hunter holding a boomerang. Why or how it was built remains a mystery. ➢7. Cerne Abbas Giant Also more appropriately known as the “Rude Man”, this figure is carved in the hillside of Cerne Abbas, just north of Dorchester, England. ➢6. Badlands Guardian In Alberta Canada you will find this face formation that looks like a human with a native American headdress on. It is supposedly entirely natural, the natural result of clay erosion... apparently. ➢5. Crop circles Did aliens create these strange designs? maybe not... Some scientists and meteorologists have suggested that factors including magnetism and the weather, such as freak tornadoes may have cause them. ➢4. Pisco Band of Holes In south-western Peru resides an ancient trail of holes of varying sizes and depths that are carved into barren rock and migrate around a mile northbound in perfect formation. With occasional clear gaps, this so called 'band of holes' baffled locals just as much as archaeologists. ➢3. Nazca Lines The most well-known geoglyphs in the world are undoubtedly the ancient Nazca Lines of coastal Peru. The hundreds of individual figures range in complexity from simple lines to stylized hummingbirds, spiders, monkeys, fish, sharks, orcas, and lizards. The puzzle of their existence is still unsolved. ➢2. Atacama Giant Not far from the Nazca Lines, over in Chile resides numerous geoglyphs of the Atacama desert. The most mysterious one is the Atacama Giant, which some believe to be an ancient type of calendar.... even though it looks like an alien. ➢1. China's Desert Mysteries Zigzagging lines, huge airstrips and unusual formations can be found in the Chinese desert. Nobody knows what they are, or why someone has been ordering tonnes of pictures of this area. They could be hidden military projects. It's almost as strange as the disputed border region that china had constructed in its desert. What's also strange is what looks like a hidden (Nazi?) base in Antarctica.
